From universal to highly specialized machine tools for gear finishing
S.I.C.M.A.T. S.p.A. (Stabilimento Industriale Costruzione Macchinario Attrezzature Torino) is born in Turin in 1932. In its first years the factory produces universal machine tools for the mechanical field, such as radial drilling machines, shaping machines and hydraulic presses.
In the Fifties the rising automotive industry induces the company to focus on more specialized technologies, such as the manufacturing of gear shaving and chamfering machines.
In 1975, during the first “Exposition Mondiale de la Machine-Outil” (EMO) in Paris, Sicmat presents the new shaving machine S32 with programmed logic technology.
In 1985 Sicmat develops the first prototype of CNC shaving machine, S32 CNC. Three years later, the first model totally conceived for the Numeric Control, Raso 220 CNC, appears on the market. Since then, the name "RASO" has become a synonymous of shaving machine for a wide number of gear manufacturers.
In the Nineties SICMAT starts a cooperation with National Broach, supplying the shaving machines of the Raso series sold in the United States under the Red Ring – Shavemaster trademark. |

In the same years Sicmat intensifies the cooperation with Samputensili, both with regard to the shaving tools as well as to the synergies within the commercial area.
In 2007 the company has successfully reached the goal of its 75 years. However this result does not restrain our spurs towards the achievement of new important goals.
